So seeing as one two three four lots of other people are doing it, I'm just going to go ahead and cave in to peer pressure here: I'm going to post one blog entry every day in November. Unfortunately, it means tonight I'm staying in writing instead of going to a concert... but I'll live.

So I have a lot of things to write about, none of which I'm actually going to write about tonight because it's late and writing requires thinking. This first day is mostly a "table of contents" - I'm going to give a list of things I might touch on this month, and then update the topics with links to the blog posts as I write them.

  • Free will, causality & determinism
  • GEB
  • Trying to impedance-match formal systems and systems of morality
  • Django! Of course.
  • What an idiot I was a year ago
  • Failings of democracy, and some thought experiments about other systems of government
  • The general awesomeness of the modern era
  • Discrimination programming - an underused teaching technique
  • The project that's been eating my time for the last almost-year, and the ridiculous amount that I'm learning from it
  • Diminishing returns from focusing on one subject for too long

See you tomorrow.
